President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called for Uganda’s mineral wealth to be transformed into jobs, industries and lasting economic assets, rather than simply exported as raw materials.
The President emphasised the importance of developing Uganda’s minerals through processing, value addition and industrial development so that greater economic value is retained within the country.
He urged stakeholders in the mineral sector to focus on investments that create sustainable employment, strengthen domestic industries and generate long-term economic benefits for Ugandans.
The call reinforces the Government's broader focus on using Uganda’s natural resources to accelerate economic transformation and build productive capacity.
For Uganda National Mining Company (UNMC), the message aligns closely with its commercial mandate to strengthen the State’s participation in the mineral sector, develop strategic mineral assets, attract investment and support value creation across the mineral value chain.
From mineral wealth to productive assets. From resources to jobs. From extraction to greater value for Uganda.
